Description

The Know-It-All can be spotted from a block away in most any city today, devoted to the latest microtrends, sure that he is an influencer, never realizing he is mostly just being influenced. Often seen with others who share a similar look and viewpoint, he does not have a clue how to march to the beat of his own drummer. He spends his time in what he thinks is his refined circle, whether in real life or online, and always knows "the best", be it clothing, coffee, or culture. He is rarely without an opinion and doubts his own even less. He is largely without humor when the mirror is turned upon him. We've all seen and heard this type of guy in public and on social media: the classic jerk who thinks he always knows best. Chris Black is here to help you not become, or stop being him.

Life for Chris Black over the past twenty years has put him in close contact with many of these guys, as they regularly congregate in the creative industries: film, music, advertising, media, and fashion. He has worked in all of these businesses and his astute and witty observations could only come from one who needs to know what is current in pop culture to make a living, yet is routinely able to step back and rise above the noise to keenly survey the scene. We've all had cringe-worthy moments in our past, and many are experiencing them still every day, only to realize it down the road. The chances for such occurrences are greatly reduced with the advice in I Know You Think You Know it All. It's not too late.

About the Author

Chris Black is a writer, producer, and editor living in New York City. His agency, Done to Death Projects, has worked with New Balance, VICE, and Harry's, among other clients. His Twitter feed offers "high level cultural commentary" and is required reading for discriminating members of the publishing, photography, music, filmmaking, fashion, and consulting worlds. Black writes a regular column for Style.com and frequently contributes to Inventory, The World’s Best Ever, and Yahoo. His connection to popular culture – whether creating it, critiquing it, or celebrating it – is constantly expanding and new collaborations, farther destinations, and greater inspirations always await.

Praise For…

"Read it, learn it, and by god, spread the wisdom. Together, we can stop idiocy and douchebaggery."
- GQ

"If you know Chris in real life it is easy to see how his brand of quirkiness and humor translate so seamlessly to first Twitter’s punchy medium, but also to this humorous (and honestly, helpful) new book." -A Continuous Lean

"His voice, his opinion, and his taste are sought-after commodities."
- Interview

"This book is the only life hack you need."
- Complex

"An Emily Post-like etiquette guide for those more concerned about the proper way to wear Supreme caps than the correct way to introduce a dinner guest." - The New York Times

"It’s I Know You Think You Know It All that our girl reads intensely, each bite of advice at least twice. Her favorites? ”Never complain, never explain.” – Johnny Depp, and “Everything is permissible as long as it is fantastic.” – Carlo Mollino. But, really, all of it is good." - Garance Doré

"Black has written a modern version of Emily Post's epistles on manners and etiquette. Packed with 414 quips on everything from ordering coffee to holding a stack of money like a phone, Black's debut book offers sage advice that applies equally to the internet as well as the real world"
The Fader

"With 414 pieces of advice in all, the compendium never loses steam . . . readers of any ilk will find advice that hits close to home."
- Publishers Weekly

"All of them [the insights in I KNOW YOU THINK YOU KNOW IT ALL] carry wit and charm."
- Cool Hunting

"Chris Black’s hilarious and astute, I KNOW YOU THINK YOU KNOW IT ALL draws upon the author’s work in the creative industries for advice on not becoming a parody of yourself."
- Selectism

"It makes for entertaining reading for anyone, really, but that book of his would be an especially thumbs-up graduation gift if you’re looking for a pro-tip."
- Of a Kind

I KNOW YOU THINK YOU KNOW IT ALL is "a coherent, fun, and wildly useful read."
- Valet.com

"What I'm saying is, we could probably all use someone like Chris Black in our lives, calling us out on our insufferable bullshit and encouraging us to actually maybe try and do some of that aforementioned cool shit for a change."
- Four Pins

"Thank you Chris for a lighthearted approach to navigate modern living."
- Sweat the Style

"A mix of new age effervescence and old school class, the lessons here are general enough to appeal to a wide audience, without alienating any but the most humorless."
- High Snobiety

"Each gem is numbered for easy reference — KNOW IT ALL makes an ideal replacement for Proverbs — and is, as far as we’re concerned, a new requisite for etiquette."
